Two bodies found near Filo Jet wreck; DNA tests under way
Two bodies have been found during a seabed search near the Filo Jet wreck off Girne, the Prime Minister’s Office announced on Monday. They were located about 1,000 metres from the vessel at a depth of 570 metres.
Before this discovery, the confirmed death toll stood at 15, with 13 people still missing. DNA tests are under way to establish whether the two bodies belong to missing passengers and to confirm their identities, so those figures have not yet been revised. Families will be informed when the results are available.
The Prime Minister’s Office said seabed searches around the wreck were continuing and pledged to keep searching for the missing passengers.
