ARUCAD launches 2026–27 academic year with three-day orientation programme

The programme began on Wednesday, September 30, at ARUCAD’s main campus in Kyrenia and will continue until Friday, October 2, concluding with events at the university’s Bandabuliya Campus in Nicosia.
The opening session began with a welcome address by ARUCAD Rector Prof Dr Asım Vehbi, who told students that creativity, imagination and critical thinking would remain at the heart of their studies.
“Think while you design and learn while you produce. Make sure you get your hands dirty. Work in all the workshops and studios and take part in every form of production,” Vehbi said.

He also encouraged students not to be discouraged by mistakes or difficulties during their university years.
Vehbi said making mistakes and occasionally taking the wrong decisions was part of the learning process, stressing the importance of recognising them, getting back up and continuing with greater determination.
Following the rector’s address, students attended information sessions on university services and academic life.
A question-and-answer session was also held with faculty deans and the head of the Preparatory School, before students took part in a guided tour of the Kyrenia campus.

The second day of the orientation programme, on Thursday, October 1, features a range of creative and social activities.
Students are being invited to visit student club stands and take part in workshops and competitions including a cat photography contest, the “Dialogues for the Future” session, pasta tower building, graffiti workshops, Mega Jenga, character design, an RC racing event and clothing design activities.
A table tennis tournament and prize ceremony will bring the day’s activities to a close.

Final day moves to Nicosia

The orientation programme will move to Nicosia on Friday for its third and final day.
Students will first take part in a city tour introducing them to some of the capital’s historic and cultural sites.
Activities will then continue at ARUCAD’s Bandabuliya Campus with a “Move and Let It Flow” event and a performance by the Bandabuliya Modern Ensemble.
The three-day programme will conclude on Friday evening with a Welcome Party at the Bandabuliya Campus, bringing together new and current ARUCAD students.
DJ DREAMA and DJ PEL are scheduled to perform as the university marks the beginning of the new academic year with music and live entertainment.
