PM rolls out 2027 youth agenda
Addressing Parliament, Üstel said “80 per cent” of the government’s new initiatives in 2027 would be aimed at young people.
He also defended his administration’s record since 2022, saying 60 projects had been completed and 369 pieces of legislation passed during that period.
Much of his speech focused on housing. Üstel rejected criticism over the allocation of rural land plots and said legal changes had been introduced to prevent plots from changing hands and to ensure they were used as intended.
He said the government wanted to allocate state-owned land in villages to young people, provide infrastructure and help them remain in their home communities.
Üstel also highlighted the return of social housing projects after what he described as a 30-year gap, while saying low-interest housing loans had helped around 1,500 young people become homeowners.
He added that social housing would also be developed in areas where suitable rural plots were not available.
“We are declaring 2027 the Year of Youth,” Üstel said. “You will see that 80 per cent of our initiatives in 2027 will be for our young people.”
