Death toll from Filo Jet disaster rises to 21 as another body is recovered

The vessel sank on August 30, triggering a large-scale search and rescue operation that has continued for more than a month.

The Prime Ministry said on Monday that the newly recovered body had been taken for examination, with procedures now under way to establish the victim’s identity.

With the latest discovery, the number of confirmed deaths has risen to 21, while seven people remain missing.

Search teams are continuing operations in an effort to locate all of those still unaccounted for.

In a statement, the Prime Ministry said all available state resources had been mobilised since the first hours of the disaster and that the search would continue until every missing person had been found.

The authorities also extended condolences to the families and relatives of those who lost their lives.
