TURKISH Cypriot Ali Hassan has confessed to playing a major role in the murder of businessman Gökhan Naim during an armed robbery at Gefsi foreign exchange bureau in Lefkoşa in March, 2019.

Hassan fled to South Cyprus after the murder but was extradited last week to face justice in the TRNC, Assistant Police Inspector Feyyaz İneci told Lefkosa District Court.

Mr İneci said that Hassan had provided a statement to police in which he confessed that he and others had been involved in the murder of Mr Naim and had stolen “a sack full of cash” during the robbery.

Hassan was granted a request to address the court and said that he was “very sorry” for what he had done.

The case continues.
