Pedestrian in intensive care following Girne traffic accident

According to police, the accident occurred at around 1.50am on Naci Talat Street and involved a car bearing registration number AB 991 S, driven by a 27-year-old man identified as A.Ç., and pedestrian Antony Lakmal Warnakulasuriya, who was crossing the road from north to south.

The vehicle was travelling westbound at the time of the accident.

Warnakulasuriya was taken to Dr Burhan Nalbantoğlu State Hospital in Lefkoşa, where he was admitted to the intensive care unit following medical treatment.

The driver was arrested, and a police investigation into the circumstances of the accident is continuing.
