Voters across Northern Cyprus will have seven days to check their details on the electoral register before the December 6 parliamentary and local elections, the Supreme Electoral Council (YSK) has announced.

Voter lists to go on display tomorrow ahead of December 6 elections

The official voter lists for all six districts — Lefkoşa, Gazimağusa, Girne, Güzelyurt, İskele and Lefke — will be made available for public inspection from Sunday, November 1, until Saturday, November 7.

The YSK is urging eligible voters to check that their names and details are correctly recorded and to submit any objections or requests for corrections before the deadline.

According to the council's latest announcement, the voter lists will be available for inspection daily between 9am and 6.30pm throughout the seven-day period.

Information about where the lists can be inspected, along with details of polling districts, will also be published on the official websites of the Supreme Electoral Council at ysk.gov.ct.tr and the courts at www.mahkemeler.net.

How to submit an objection

Voters who discover incorrect information or wish to challenge an entry can submit an objection either at the location where the lists are displayed or directly to the relevant District Electoral Board.

However, specific hours apply to objections and applications.

On working days, submissions will be accepted between 5.30pm and 6.30pm.

On other days, objections can be submitted between 9am and 10am or between 5.30pm and 6.30pm.

All objections and applications must be supported by written evidence.

Applicants may be required to provide an identity card or passport to confirm their identity and citizenship.

Where proof of permanent residence is necessary, voters must obtain an official document from their local muhtar (village or neighbourhood head). The document must carry the signatures of the muhtar and two members of the local council, together with the official muhtar's stamp.

November 7 deadline

The YSK has emphasised that Saturday, November 7, is the final day for objections and applications during the public inspection period.

The publication of the voter lists is part of preparations for the early parliamentary election and local elections scheduled for Sunday, December 6.
