Search inside sunken ferry complete, official statement says
The search inside the ferry that sank off Girne has been completed without finding further remains, according to an official statement from the Prime Minister’s Office.
The statement was issued after Prime Minister Ünal Üstel personally briefed the families of those still missing and showed them footage of the work inside the wreck.
Üstel said crews had reached and searched every section of the vessel. The search for the missing would continue outside the wreck, including underwater, on the sea surface and along the coast.
The ferry’s voyage data recorder, or VDR, was recovered today and handed to police for examination, the statement said. Üstel also pledged to follow the ongoing court proceedings and seek accountability for anyone found responsible for the disaster.
